What are the rules of Ihram in Islam?

Ihram is the important dress of performing Umrah and Hajj. The specific meaning of ihram is that " “prohibiting". without Ihram, a Muslim can not perform the Hajj (major pilgrimage) and Umrah (minor pilgrimage) because it is an initial step of both pilgrimages.


What is the method of ihram in Islam?


1. The first is that men wear two pieces of clothing (such as towels), one is fixed around the waist and the other covers both shoulders.
2. These sheets can be worn with pins and belts.
3. Women are allowed to wear any dress as long the basis of the role of Islamic dressing code; however, many prefer to wear a plain, ankle-length, long-sleeved garment.

4. Women are allowed to wear a normal dress. However, many prefer to wear simple, ankle-length, long sleeve dresses. A woman should cover her clothes with abaya.

5. According to a hadith reported Abdullah bin ‘Umar that a woman in the state of ihram should not cover her face and hands (Sahih Bukhari, 64; Chapter no: 29, Book of The penalty of Hunting while on Pilgrimage).
6. Hazrat Ayesha [r.a] stated:
"Riders would pass us when we accompanied the Messenger of Allah [PUBH] while we were in the sacred state (wearing ihram). When they came by us, one of us would let down her outer garment from her head over her face, and when they had passed on, we would uncover our faces."
7. Muslims can wear Ihram at their homes, during flights, and at airports but there are selected places (Miqaat) for wearing Ihram and do niyah before crossing the Miqaat is compulsory. In the condition of Ihram, a Muslim is called Mahram.

What are the things forbidden to do after Ihram?


1. Men can not use stitched cloth even underwear. whatever there is no reaction for women.
2. Men can not cover the head in the state of Ihram.
3. People can not use perfume, do not wear perfume clothing, or use any perfume product such as shampoo, soap, tissue.
4. People can not wear shoes or socks. Sandals allowed. Women don't mind.
5. Muslim can not hunt and participate in any kind of hunting.
6. Muslim can not get involved in idle talk or such as fighting, arguing or quarrelling.
Muslim can not get involved in harming oneself smoking is not allowed while in the condition of Ihram.


Abdullah ibn Umar reported: A man stood up and he said:

O Messenger of Allah, what should I wear to prepare for the pilgrimage?” The Prophet, [Peace Be Upon Him]  stated “Do not wear a shirt, or pants, or turban, or a hooded cloak. If someone has no shoes, he may wear leather socks if they are cut lower than his ankles. Do not wear any perfume or fragrance. The woman prepared for pilgrimage should not cover her face or wear gloves.”
