Complete Guidance Of Performing Umrah

Umrah is a low pilgrimage and a sacred journey after the Hajj. It is beautiful worship, and there are broad wisdom and a purpose behind it, which is the submission towards Allah, to acknowledge that all we have is a blessing that Allah has bestowed upon us. Therefore, we must fully commit ourselves to God and not associate ourselves with earthly things.

 

For our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), performing the Umrah was one of the favourite acts. Therefore, this worship is performed by millions of Muslims today. Majority of Muslims come to Mecca for Umrah and this journey of Muslims to Mecca is not stoped entire year. It is a spiritual journey that has many rewards in life and in the Hereafter. Doing Umrah will renew your spirit and mind and purify you from the inside.

 

The Prophet (PBUH) said:

 

“Umrah is the atonement of all sins”

 

2 Types of Umrah

 

Umrah-ul-Mafradha:

 

This kind of Umrah can be done at any time of the year, there is no special time to offer Umrah because it is independent from Hajj. The Umrah al-Mufrah can be observed individually. This is not obligatory on visitors.

 

Umrah-ul-Tammatu:

 

The performing Umrah-ul-Tammatu is associated with Hajj, which is only performed in the 12th, the last month of the Islamic month. Umrah-ul-Tammatu depends on Hajj and must be performed along with the Hajj.

 

Many Muslims around the world desire to travel once in a lifetime and they want to get the grace of Allah (SWT) by visiting the holiest cities (Mecca and Medina ). But as we all know, before planning a trip, everyone has to look in their pockets and do their best to get the Best Cheap Umrah packages so that they can perform Umrah at any time of the year.


 There are four (4) Rites of Umrah:
1. Putting up of Ihram
2. Tawaf
3. Sa’i
4. Qasar / Halaq


A pilgrim does Niyyah (intention) of Hajj & Umrah and recites Talbiya before Meeqat.


Procedures of Ihram

1. To take a bath with the intention of Ihram.
2. To wear Ihram sheets or dress
3. To offer two Rakat of Nafal by covering your head.
4. With your head uncover declare your Niyyah:

 

To start reciting special pray and Talbiyah continuously from home that is mentioned below. It is compulsory to recite Talbiya loudly, but it is not permitted for women

Enter Masjid Al Haram: Recite Darud and Supplicate to Allah Almighty and proceed towards Kaaba

Keep your eyes fixed at Baitullah and Say:

After this recite Talbiyah and move forward to perform Tawaf.

 

Prohibitions of Ihram

1. Cutting Nails

2. Haircutting or removing extra hair from any part of the body.

3. Use of any scents on the body or the dress.

4. Stitched Clothing.

5. Sandals and flip flops must not be stitched either and should allow the ankle and back of the foot to be exposed.

6. Covering Face or Head.

7. Hunting of animals even of lice.

8. Sexual activity

Tawaf

This means revolving around the Kaaba seven times with devotion. The pilgrims should start their walk around the Kaaba from the left side. Upon arriving at the Kaaba, stop reading Talbiyah. You should be in Wudhu. The men cover both shoulders after the tawaf but during Tawaf, they leave their right shoulder naked and it is called Idtiba’a.

1. Start at the Black Stone

2. Kiss the stone if it is possible.

3. Touch it with your right hand, if possible.

4. Face the Black Stone and point at it with your right hand is enough.

 

Say

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ, اللّهُ أكبر

 

 


When they reach Rukn Yamani (fourth corner of Qaba), all they have to do is touch the Hajra Aswad.
After completing the pilgrimage, proceed to Maqam Ibrahim - (Ibrahim's station)
At the end of the seven circles, they will do Istilam  (touching or kissing the black stone) and say

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ, اللّهُ أكبر

Recite this verse (which means):

 

The pilgrims will offer 2 rakats of Nafa close to Maqam-e-Ibrahim without covering their heads.

 

Zamzam

 

The pilgrims will go to drink Zamzam, which is situated in the basement of Haram but Zamzam water dispensers are everywhere in the mosque where pilgrims drink the water (Zamzam) while standing and saying “بِسْمِ اللَّهِ and (supplicate to Allah).

Sa’i

 

The Sa'i means that there is to run/walk back and forth 7 times between the hills of Safah & Marwa which are situated to the North and South of Kaaba.

As you leave the Boundary of the mosque, you can say (as is recommended for all mosques):

 

upon approaching Mount Safaa, the following Ayaat (verse) is recited

 

 

Then ascend upon Mount Safaa, face the Qiblah, raise your hands and recite 3 times:

 


Then ascend upon hill Safaa, face the Qiblah, raise your hands and recite 3 times:

The seventh circuit will end at Marwa. After this, the pilgrim will offer two (2) rakat nafl.

Qasar / Halaq

After Sai, the male visitors will shave their heads completely, the women will clip their hair at the length of their fingers.
